The decision to close the Edmonton's City Airport was a blow to the history of the airport. Since its first operation in 1909, a lot of events took place: the first licence to an airport (ECCA) was insured in 1929, used as a stop over during the World War 11,a weather station was established in 1937 to service the Prairies and the main cargo airport for North America.
With the development of the Edmonton, aviation technology improved and ways to improve airport operations. City Centre airport in terms of technology or mode of operation, it has already difficult to meet the we needs of contemporary urban development, though it represents the past history of aviation. But the city needs to develop, so we no longer need it, and Edmonton just has 1 million people so I think we don‘t need two airports, and now international airport in terms of technical or operational aspects of management are better than city centre airport. So I think we still need to close the city centre airport
